INJURY

At some point nearly every family makes the tough decision to place a parent or loved one into a nursing home, assisted living facility, or skilled nursing facility. We expect that our parents or loved one will get the medical care and attention they need. Unfortunately, many times our parents or loved ones do not get the care and attention they need and for which we paid. This is often due to negligent caretakers, critical understaffing, and nursing homes placing profits over the care of their patients.

Common examples of nursing home, assisted living, and skilled nursing home negligence include:
• Elopement – When a resident leaves the facility or enters an area where they are not supposed to be and are injured, we can help.
• Bed Sores – Also known as pressure ulcers, these are a common injury associated with negligence of a nursing home or assisted living facility. They are generally preventable, so any time you notice a bedsore on your loved one you should call our office.
• Falls – If your loved one has suffered an injury as a result of a fall, you should call our office.
• Infections – Improper wound dressing and care can lead to serious infections which may lead to permanent injury or death.
• Financial Theft –This is a serious crime, and the facility may be civilly responsible for failing to train and supervise its employees.

NURSING HOME ABUSE

4.

Every Doctor takes an oath to "Do No Harm" to their patient. But unfortunately, some doctors break that oath. In fact, medical errors claim the lives of over 200,000 people a year in the United States. It is my job as a medical malpractice attorney to hold doctors, hospitals, nurses, nurse practitioners, and others accountable when they harm instead of heal their patients.

Common cases of medical malpractice that I see and accept are:
• Misdiagnosis or delayed diagnosis.
• Failure to treat.
• Surgical or procedural errors.
• Childbirth injuries.
• Releasing a patient too soon from the hospital.
• Failing to provide instructions for follow-up care.
• Failing to order appropriate medical tests.
• Neglecting to consider a patient’s medical history when prescribing medicine or treatment.
